welcome to School-Age
Welcome to our school-age room! The school-age room serves children from ages 5 through 12. They go on many field trips throughout the summer and give the children a safe and fun break before they go back to elementary school in the fall.

Theme: Game Extravaganza
Monday: To begin our game week, we will play a handful of different team-building games as a class. The games are called Group Hop, Sneak Peek, and No-Hands Cup-Stacking Challenge. While we play these games we will talk about how working together as a team can make the games easier.
Focus Skill: Social Skills
Tuesday: Video game day! Today we will learn about the history of video games, and talk about why they have become so popular in today's society. Then we will get the chance to play some video games ourselves! We will practice taking turns and encouraging each other when playing the WII games. Miss Kathy will provide the WII, games and TV for us to use .
Focus Skill: Gross Motor & Fine Motor
Wednesday: Create your own game day! Each child will be tasked with making their own board game, card game, or video game. The goal is for the children to write down the materials that they need, the rules of how to play their game, and for them to draw a picture or create a model of their game. Once the kids have created their games we will play them as a class.
Focus Skill: Cognitive
Thursday: Movie day!! We have been reading the book Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass since June, and since we finished reading the novel yesterday it is finally time for us to watch the movie! After watching the movie we will compare it to the novel and talk about the similarities and differences that we saw between the two. We will also get to enjoy some yummy popcorn while we watch the movie! (Please don't forget to bring your favorite board game or card game to school tomorrow!!)
Focus Skill: Comparisons
Friday: To end our week, each child may bring one of their favorite board games or card games with them to school! This will give us the chance to learn more about each other by seeing which games are our favorites, and practice good sportsmanship skills like we talked about during week 4 of summer camp..
